13 years since the release of the critically acclaimed record “Pull”, WINGER are now a five-piece band comprising of Kip Winger (on vocals and bass), Reb Beach (on guitar), Rod Morgenstein (on drums), John Roth (on guitar and keyboards) and the new addition, Cenk Eroglu (guitar and keyboards).

The new album, according to Kip Winger is “the result of my chemistry with Reb Beach”. "Songwriting and composition are the most important thing to me", continues Kip, “In my opinion good songs are a combination of life, experience and accident. On WINGER IV all of those things came together. Reb and I are more comfortable with each other now and our musical roles with respect to each other are more clearly defined”.

"IV" is definitely a career-defining album for the experienced musicians that created it. "This was a very magical record. I gave it everything I had, I thought of the overwhelming support I've had over the years by the die hard fans and really wanted to give them something worth listening to", says Winger.

The record has a very diverse feel: the aggression of tracks like "Right Up Ahead", "M16” or “Livin’ Just To Die”, the mystical elements "Disappear", the lyricism and sheer melodies of "Blue Suede Shoes", "On A Day Like Today" and the political elements of “Can’t Take It Back” and “Generica”. The album has something for everyone.

"Several songs on this record” reveals Kip, “were inspired by my experience performing at a few military bases, after meeting some of the men and women who are in the line of fire. I wrote songs like "Blue Suede Shoes", “Right Up Ahead” and “M16” as a way of giving something back to the soldiers who sacrifice themselves for the rest of us to live free"

RE-UNION NEWS - ANNOUNCING THE RETURN OF WINGER!:

Frontiers Records is particularly excited to announce the signing of Winger for a brand new reunion studio album!
Born in 1987 under the initiative of former Alice Cooper band member Kip Winger (vocals, bass) and Reb Beach (guitars), Winger's lineup was completed by Paul Taylor (another ex-Alice Cooper on guitars and keyboards) and former Dixie Dregs drummer Rod Morgenstein.
Winger
recorded three very successful studio albums. The self-titled debut, was released in 1988 on Atlantic, achieved platinum status in the United States, and gold in Japan and Canada sporting such hits as Madalaine, Seventeen and Headed For A Heartbreak.
In 1990, the band was nominated for an American Music Award for "Best New Heavy Metal Band". Shortly after, Winger released its second album In the Heart of the Young, which went platinum in the U.S. and gold in Japan. The album included Winger's biggest hit Miles Away, who topped at #12 of Billboard charts in the USA.
Their third and last studio album,
Pull, was recorded in 1992/93 as a three-piece band, following Paul Taylor's departure.
Produced by Mike Shipley, on the following tour John Roth was called in to replace Paul Taylor.
After the Pull tour, Kip Winger embarked on a solo career which encompassed 3 successful solo albums, singing with Alan Parsons live Project, 2 film scores plus performing over 400 acoustic shows and writing and producing for countless other artists.
Reb Beach
recorded one solo album, joined Alice Cooper, Dokken and now Whitesnake, later joining Kelly Keagy (Night Ranger), Timothy Drury (Whitesnake) and Doug Pinnick (King's X) to form the Hard Rock combo The Mob.
Rod Morgenstein
went on to form the Rudess/Morgenstein project with Jordan Rudess (Dream Theater) and later Jelly Jam with Ty Tabor (King's X) and John Myung (Dream Theater). He is currently associate professor at Berkley College of Music.
In 2001 the band returned to the studio to record the song
On the Inside for The Very Best of Winger. In 2002 they reunited to tour the US and Canada on a bill with Poison and Cinderella.
Now, after years of consideration Kip Winger decided to reunite Winger for a brand new album. This finally happened when he actually "heard" the musical path where he could "move the band sound forward, without repeating the same music over and over".
Kip therefore started at the beginning of 2006 to write new material with guitarist
Reb Beach who "thought it would NEVER happen! But what we have worked on sounds really good and I have been so excited to be working with Kip on our own stuff again".
Kip and Reb called up original drummer Rod Morgenstein and John Roth (on guitar and vocals) and Cenk Eroglu (Xcarnation) On keyboards and sound FX and quickly started the recording session which, at this stage, are almost completed.
"The new Winger album" says Kip,
"will start where Pull left off and will move forward to new directions mixing some classic Hard Rock like Van Halen and early Winger style, progressive and acoustic elements that may resemble Genesis, Mott The Hoople or King Crimson". Kip has also revealed some new song titles - Right Up Ahead, Blue Suede Shoes, Four Leaf Clover, M16 and has also confirmed that the album artwork will be handled by Ethan Van Sciver - a renowned comic book artist and penciller who has contributed (among others) to Cyberfrog, New X-Men, The Flash Iron Heights and Impulse.
Winger
are currently working on touring plans in USA, Europe and Japan in support of the release of the album - a Frontiers Records world exclusive - scheduled for release in October 2006.
Frontiers Records President, Serafino Perugino commented: "We are particularly proud to announce this news. We have been working on this concept for years and when Kip opened his doors we have been enormously excited. We hope the fans can appreciate the work of these Hard Rock geniuses and enjoy some great new music".
